Working with audio

Files & projects

Supported formats, opening files, tabs, and projects (.jaw) versus exported audio.

Opening audio

Choose File ▸ Open and pick an audio file. JAW AI opens WAV, MP3, AIFF, FLAC, and Ogg Vorbis. Each file you open lands in its own tab, so you can work on several at once and the agent can even act across them.

Projects vs. exported audio

There are two distinct things you can save, and they serve different purposes:

  • A project (.jaw) — saved with File ▸ Save (or Save Project As…). It keeps your work editable: the original audio, the full non-destructive effect stack, and your notes. Reopen it later and everything is exactly as you left it.
  • An exported file — created with File ▸ Save As…. This renders the effect stack down to a finished audio file (WAV, AIFF, FLAC, Ogg, MP3, or AAC) to share or publish. See Exporting your audio.

Tabs

Switch between open files with the tabs above the timeline. Close a tab with File ▸ Close Tab; JAW AI will prompt you if the document has unsaved changes.
